Bank Holiday Fireworks at Claremont Pier 2025 – Lowestoft’s Big Summer Send-Off
You know summer’s nearly done when you’ve run out of ice lollies, the seagulls are looking fatter than you, and there’s a big old firework display down at Claremont Pier.
On Friday 22nd August 2025, Lowestoft’s famous pier is doing what it does best – throwing a FREE fireworks night so good it’ll make you forget you’ve got work on Monday.
The show kicks off at around 9pm (once it’s dark enough to really show off) and it’s all happening right on the seafront. You can expect the sky to be lit, the sea to sparkle, and the air to be filled with “Oooohs” and “Aaaahs” from every direction.
Why You Need To Be There
First off, it’s FREE. You don’t get many Friday nights out that spectacular without your wallet weeping.
Second, it’s for a good cause – donations on the night go towards rebuilding the far end of Claremont Pier, which took a battering over the years. So you get fireworks AND you get to feel like a hero.
And let’s be honest – there’s just something about fireworks by the sea. The smell of salt in the air, a bag of chips in your hand, the bang echoing off the water, and your hair doing its best impression of a haystack thanks to the sea breeze. It’s proper British summer magic.
Make A Night (Or A Day) Of It
The display’s at 9pm, but you’d be daft to rock up last minute. Spend the afternoon paddling, grabbing a chippy tea, or rinsing the 2p machines in the amusements. Stake out your spot on the beach or the promenade early, because once word gets out, it’s going to get busy.
Pro tip: wrap up warm. Yes, it’s August, but this is the British seaside. That jumper you “definitely won’t need” will be the one you’re fighting your mate for at 8:45pm.
Getting Yourself There
By car? Aim for the A12 into Lowestoft, but get there early – parking near the pier disappears faster than a free box of toffee apples.
By train? The station’s about a 20-minute walk from the pier, so you can grab some chips on the way.
On foot? Lucky you – stroll along the prom with the smug look of someone who doesn’t have to fight for a parking space.
