August Bank Holiday Fireworks: Claremont Pier to Host Spectacular Double Display

This August bank holiday, the historic Claremont Pier in Lowestoft is set to host something truly special—a pair of groundbreaking fireworks displays that promise to be a first for the UK.

On Friday, August 23rd, locals and visitors alike will have the chance to witness two dazzling shows, each offering something entirely unique. With free entry and the chance to support a good cause, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable evening on the East Anglian coast.

A UK First: Two Fireworks Displays in One Night

For one night only, the owners of Claremont Pier have teamed up with Flash Fx to bring two distinct fireworks displays to the Lowestoft seafront. The first display kicks off at 7pm and will be something quite different—a “special daytime display” that will showcase coloured pyrotechnics and clouds of smoke, creating a unique early evening spectacle. This type of display is rarely seen and is sure to be a treat for the crowd.

The second display, set for 9pm, is being billed as a “pioneering Wildlife Considered Display.” This innovative approach to fireworks aims to minimise the impact on local wildlife, offering a quieter but no less stunning show. This display will also feature the same cutting-edge pyrotechnics that were used at this year’s Olympic opening ceremony—a first for East Anglia and a UK debut.

A Thank You to the Community

The team at Claremont Pier is keen to show their appreciation to the community for its support over the summer, which is why they’ve made entry to the fireworks displays free of charge. However, donations will be welcomed on the night to help fund the ongoing re-decking of the entire 60-metre stretch of the pier—a vital project to preserve this historic landmark.

A Pier with a History of Spectacle

Claremont Pier has long been a focal point of the Lowestoft seafront, and this isn’t the first time it has dazzled crowds. In 2021, the pier hosted a series of spectacular laser light shows that drew hundreds of spectators. Those displays, which featured flames and laser lights, set the stage for what’s to come this month. After a few years of quiet, the pier is ready to wow audiences once again with these two new and innovative displays.
