Abingdon Summerfest 2025: Monster Trucks, Fireworks and Family Fun All in One Explosive Day

Looking for a way to see out the summer with a bang? Abingdon Summerfest 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most action-packed days on the UK family events calendar – and if you like your fireworks loud, your trucks massive, and your entertainment full-throttle, you’ll want this date circled in red.

When and Where?

The action takes place on Saturday, 30th August 2025 at Abingdon Airfield, Barrow Road, Shippon OX13 6JQ. Gates open at 2:30pm, with the first roar of engines and blast of entertainment kicking off at 3pm and running through until 11pm. If you're planning to camp, the site opens at midday. Just make sure to get there early – this one’s popular, and for good reason.

What's New This Year?

Formerly known as the Abingdon Fireworks & Hot Air Balloon Festival, this year's rebranded Abingdon Fireworks & Monster Truck Festival is cranking the dial up to eleven. Alongside the legendary firework and light shows, they’re adding extra horsepower – quite literally – with monster truck legends Big Pete, Grim Reaper, and the wild Slingshot ready to tear up the arena.

It’s full-on fireballs, smashed cars, and high-octane stunts. Bring your earplugs and your camera.

The Main Attractions

Let’s talk about the fireworks first – because that’s what we’re all here for, right? Not content with just one display, there’ll be a daylight fireworks display in the early evening (perfect for the little ones who can’t stay up), and a massive, fully choreographed pyromusical light show after dark. It’s one of the UK’s largest wrap-around displays, and if you’ve never seen synchronised fireworks with a lighting show thumping along to music, prepare to have your socks well and truly blown off.

But the fireworks are just part of the fun. Here’s a taste of what else to expect throughout the day:

Monster truck mayhem in the arena – expect high jumps, big crashes, and plenty of noise.

Live ATV stunt show by Paul Hannam – if it’s got wheels, he’s probably doing flips on it.

Real-life tank rides (because why not take a spin in a 15-tonne bit of British Army kit?).

Hot air balloons floating serenely above it all (weather willing, of course).

A full-scale funfair, open until 10pm, with rides to suit daredevils and toddlers alike.

Street food, artisan bites and plenty of refreshments in the dedicated food village.

Market stalls, inflatables, games and other bits to keep the whole family buzzing.

And yes, all of this – including the monster trucks, shows and fireworks – is included in your ticket. No hidden charges once you’re through the gates.

General advance prices for 2025 are:

• Adults (16+): £28.00

• Children (3–15): £14.00

• Infants (0–2): Free

• Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children): £78.40

• Carer (with valid ID): £14.00

• Parking: £5.00

Be warned – gate prices are more expensive and subject to availability, so it pays to book online in advance if you’re planning to go.
