Aberdeen Bonfire Night Fireworks 2024: A New Location for a Cracking Night!

Aberdeen Bonfire Night Fireworks 2024: A New Location for a Cracking Night!

Get ready, folks! The Aberdeen Fireworks Display is back on Tuesday, 5th November, and this year, it’s bringing the bangs and flashes to a brand-new location.

Due to some ongoing development work at the beach, the fireworks will be launched from the end of the Port of Aberdeen’s North Pier. So, if you’re planning to head down, take note of the change!

Where to Watch the Action

You’ll want to find yourself a good spot along the southern end of the Esplanade to get the best views. The display will kick off at 7:30pm sharp, and for a solid 20 minutes, the skies above Aberdeen will be lit up with a dazzling array of colours and patterns.

It’s all happening at the North Pier, near Footdee (affectionately known as Fittie to the locals), but remember, there’s no parking available directly at the venue, so plan ahead!

Getting There: Park and Ride

If you’re thinking of driving, you’ll want to take advantage of the Park and Ride options available from Bridge of Don, Kingswells, and Altens. These services will drop you off and pick you up from Wellington Road, making it a doddle to get to and from the action without the hassle of finding a parking spot.

For those with blue badges, there is limited parking available on a first-come, first-served basis, but be aware that drivers will be held back until the crowds have cleared at the end of the display.

Best Spots to Enjoy the Show

The best spots for catching the display in all its glory will be along the Beach Esplanade, especially around the southern end. If you’re near Footdee public toilets, you’re in prime position – so get there early to secure your place!

Tips for the Night

A couple of handy tips to make your evening as enjoyable as possible:

  • Wrap Up Warm: It’s November in Aberdeen, so you can bet it’s going to be chilly. Layers are your friend!
  • Leave Early: With the new location and parking limitations, give yourself plenty of time to get down there.
  • Take Public Transport: It’s probably the easiest way to avoid the hassle of parking, and with Park and Ride options available, you’ll be sorted.

Make the Most of Your Time in Aberdeen

Why not make a day of it?

Aberdeen isn’t just about the fireworks! Before the display kicks off, you could explore the city’s other attractions. Wander down to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum for a bit of local history or take a stroll through the Aberdeen Beach area for some fresh sea air and maybe a bag of chips – just watch out for the seagulls!

Feeling a bit peckish before the big event? There are plenty of local cafes and restaurants along the Esplanade and around the city centre, from cosy pubs to seafood restaurants, where you can grab a bite and a pint. Soak up some local flavour before settling in for the show.

Plan for All Weather

Aberdeen is famous for its unpredictable weather, so come prepared! Waterproofs, a warm hat, and a good pair of shoes wouldn’t go amiss – especially if it’s been raining. And hey, if the Scottish weather gods are smiling and it stays dry, all the better!

A Night to Remember

So, if you fancy a night out that’ll make you go “ooh” and “aah” in equal measure, Aberdeen’s fireworks display is where it’s at this year. A brand-new location means a fresh new backdrop for the spectacle, and with the display lasting a full 20 minutes, it’s sure to be worth the trip. Whether you're going solo, with family, or your mates, get yourself down to the southern Esplanade for an explosive night of fun.
