8000 Chinese Sky Lanterns Launched In Poznan Poland

Poznanians gathered yesterday evening (25th June 2011) to set off 8000 Chinese lanterns.

The event started at 9.00pm to celebrate the Sobotka Midsummer Night or Midsummer Night bonfire also called the Slavic feast associated with the summer solstice sunset. It is celebrated on the shortest night of the year.

Sobotka is the celebration of fire, water, sun, moon, fertility, and above all love.
