Phu Quoc: The Only Island in the World With Daily Fireworks

Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam has become the first island in the world to finish the day with a fantastic fireworks display.

Since January 2024, as the sun dips below the horizon, the picturesque Sunset Town on Phu Quoc Island comes alive with a nightly display due to its new multi-experience art show, "Kiss of the Sea."

Each performance boasts over 100 effects against the backdrop of the ocean, with the fireworks set off at 9:30pm each night.

Upon opening, "Kiss of the Sea" became the world's largest sea-based theatre show, with a capacity of 5,000, a seawater screen that spans 1,000 square metres, a multi-level, free-form stage fully equipped with three projection domes and 300 devices to deliver a diverse range of stunning special effects and pyrotechnics.

The brainchild of Sun Group, Phu Quoc's nightly fireworks displays have catapulted the island to international fame, making it one of the first islands in the world to offer such nightly spectacles. With a staggering investment of VND4,000 billion (US$162 million), Sun Group has transformed Hoang Hon Town into an entertainment hub, drawing visitors from far and wide.

One of the highlights of the fireworks shows is the integration of classic songs like "We Are the Champions" and "Dancing Queen" with the dazzling pyrotechnics.

To pull off these nightly displays, the launch site at Hoang Hon Town is a hive of activity, with up to 600 fireworks transported to the sea launch site daily by a dedicated team that work tirelessly to ensure that each night's fireworks display is nothing short of spectacular.. The scale of the operation is unparalleled, rivaling even the New Year's Eve celebrations in Hanoi.

But the entertainment doesn't stop with the fireworks. Visitors can also indulge in a series of high-class shows, including "Kiss of the Sea," extreme sports art performances, "Vortex of Love," and "Puppet Viet." With a cast of 60 international artists and a wide range of visual effects.

This new show tells a timeless tale of romance of a local boy from Phu Quoc who falls in love with a girl from the centre of the galaxy. They embark on a journey through space and time played by 60 international artists performing live on stage, including a wide range of dramatic styles including trampoline, ballet, acrobatics, gymnastics, freestyle dance and more.
