EASTNOR CASTLE – FIREWORK CHAMPIONS EVENT 2018

WHAT: EASTNOR CASTLE FIREWORK CHAMPIONS 2018
WHY: FIREWORK COMPETITION
WHERE: EASTNOR CASTLE, LEDBURY, HEREFORDSHIRE, HR8 1RL
WHEN: SATURDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2018

This is the fifth in the Firework Champions event calendar and the penultimate show for the 2018 calendar.

The venue is the gorgeous Eastnor Castle which became one of the mainstays for the MLE Firework Champions events in 2009 and continues to play host in impeccable fashion.

Set in the stunning Malvern Hills, in an area of outstanding natural beauty it is the perfect setting for this mock revival castle. It is a grade I listed building in the middle of this 5000-acre estate, and the interior architecture is predominantly Gothic.

Eastnor was built between 1810 – 1824 and was founded by John Cocks, 1st Earl of Somers and remains in the family to this day.

When the family of the current family came along, they saved the day as the castle was in terrible disrepair and the Hervey Bathurst’s knew that the only way to truly save it was to allow public use and access.

The house is full of medieval armour and some stunning fine art and tapestries, one of this depict a poem dedicated to Catherine de Medici, former mother in law of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Whilst still very much a home to James and his family, the house is open to the public on specific days between the end of March and the August Bank holiday weekend and thereafter just Sundays until the end of September.

ATOM FIREWORKS - MANCHESTER
Atom Fireworks first participated in a Firework Champions event in 2016 at Ragley Hall and they WON! Last year, however, they narrowly missed out on a top spot which went to Skyburst.
The team represents a mid-sized display company which has a clientele list which includes Local Government, weddings and celebrations and a local prestigious golf.
This team use the popular and reliable Fire by Wire firing system; which gives split-second accuracy on all their displays. Good luck.

MDL FIREWORKS – WIGAN, LANCASHIRE
This team cover the whole of the UK mainland with an average of 150 displays a year so no stranger to the pyro industry. They manage to keep the business in the family remaining true to their ethos of family first.
Clients include the huge Trafford Centre, the RAF, all the major UK TV networks, and BT.
This will be the fifth time they have competed at a Firework Champions event so they know the crack as the saying goes so they will definitely be expected to bring something really special to this year’s competition.

STELLAR FIREWORKS – CREWKERNE, SOMERSET
Acknowledged for their passion for pyro and attention to detail, no job is too big or too small for this team to offer the personal touch.
Lovers of fireworks from a young age, this team of pyromaniacs have been in the business for some time but this will be their first time at a Firework Champions event and we are expecting a spectacular display from them.

Once all the teams have finished their displays, they can for a short while sit back and relax whilst the voting opens (SMS voting within the venue) and watch organisers MLE Pyrotechnics take first position and fill the sky with a finale display; It will make quite the change for the firers to see the fireworks instead of a lot of noise and smoke at ground zero.

If you want to arrange an overnight stay close by, there are details on the Firework Champions website or indeed you can take your tent/caravan or motorhome and spend the night.

We will, of course, bring you all the news and gossip from each of the venues once the events have taken place.

Take care.
