Cherry Hill's 4th of July Fireworks Tradition Returns

Cherry Hill's 4th of July Fireworks Tradition Returns

For the first time in over a decade, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, will once again light up the skies with a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.

This long-awaited event promises to bring joy and excitement to residents and visitors alike, marking the revival of a cherished tradition that hasn't been seen since 2014.

Cherry Hill has a rich history of hosting great Independence Day celebrations, complete with fireworks. For many years, families gathered at Jonas C. Morris Stadium behind Cherry Hill High School West to enjoy live entertainment, delicious food, and, of course, the celebratory fireworks display.

However, the township's last fireworks extravaganza took place in 2014, leaving locals nostalgic for the days when they could come together to commemorate America's birthday in grand style.

The event's cancellation was a result of its overwhelming popularity. As neighbouring towns discontinued their own displays for a variety of reasons, local residents and tourists flocked to Cherry Hill's celebration. With crowds swelling and traffic congestion worsening, township officials made the difficult decision to put an end to the tradition.

But now, thanks to the efforts of Mayor David Fleisher and other township officials, Cherry Hill is poised to welcome back its beloved fireworks tradition. Responding to the growing calls from residents to reinstate the event, Mayor Fleisher and his team have worked tirelessly to make it a reality once again.

The township's Independence Day celebration on July 3 promises to be a festive affair, featuring live entertainment, food vendors, and, of course, a dazzling fireworks display, once again set against the backdrop of Jonas C. Morris Stadium.

The event aims to bring the community together in a spirit of unity and celebration, with the mayor saying, “Over the last several years, people have been asking for it, but the response has exceeded expectations.”

In preparation for the event, township officials are working closely with the Cherry Hill Police Department to implement safety measures and traffic management strategies. With the safety of guests and neighbouring residents as a top priority, organisers are taking proactive steps to minimise disruptions and ensure a smooth and seamless experience for everyone.

“Celebrating America’s birthday with fireworks is a time-honored tradition that I am pleased we’re bringing back to Cherry Hill,” said township council president Bill Carter. “My colleagues on the council and I support the mayor’s commitment to bringing our community together through events and activities like this and are looking forward to a happy and safe Fourth of July for all.”

As anticipation builds and excitement mounts, Cherry Hill residents eagerly await the return of this beloved tradition, ready to once again experience the magic of fireworks lighting up the night sky in celebration of freedom, unity, and community spirit.
