STANFORD HALL – FIREWORK CHAMPIONS – THE COMPETITORS

WHAT: STANFORD HALL – FIREWORK CHAMPIONS – THE COMPETITORS
WHY: NATIONAL FIREWORK COMPETITION
WHERE: STANFORD HALL, LUTTERWORTH, LEICESTERSHIRE, UK
WHEN: SATURDAY 28th JULY 2018
TIME: 6:00PM TO 10:30PM

The setting for the second of the Firework Champions events is the beautiful grounds of Stanford Hall, just outside of Lutterworth which is holding its fourteenth Firework Champions event.

Stanford Hall is a perfect example of an early manor house and stands on land which has belonged to the ancestors of the current Fothergill family since 1430. In 1690, Sir Roger Cave commissioned the building of the current Manor House in the popular William and Mary style, inspired by King William III (William of Orange) and Queen Mary II. The main features of this type of architecture are the dormer windows, the central dome, a hipped roof and a very symmetrical composition. The house itself contains some beautiful Charles II furnishings which date from the early part of the 17th century.

During the second World War, Stanford offered refuge to the Holy sisters and children from the Sacred Heart Convent, London and more recently, development of a specialist defence and National
Rehabilitation centre in the grounds of Stanford is well under way. Once completed it will offer help, both physical and emotional for up to 300 injured service personnel.

The house is a popular tourist attraction set deep in ancient woodlands, this beautiful place is first rate to spend a relaxed summer’s evening especially with spectacular display fireworks. There is a campsite behind the hall which will cost just £10 a night per adult (children no charge) for your tent, caravan or motorhome. There is no electricity but there are basic toilet facilities and a water supply. We must stress that you are NOT allowed any BBQ’s as these represent a high risk of fire. The Hall is easily reached within a few minutes of the M1, M6 and A14. Alternatively, if you would like to make a weekend of it, there are several placed close-by to stay ranging in price from around £58 – £120 per night.

This year Stanford Hall Firework Champions competitors are as follows:

ILLUSION FIREWORKS LTD – WALLINGFORD, OXFORDSHIRE

Illusion are a fresh and dynamic team who have been part of the firework industry for many years, firing for other teams. They are passionate about pyrotechnics and are guaranteed to thrill the gathered spectators.

They won at Newby Hall in 2015, picked up a 2nd place at Capesthorne Hall in 2016, and they were winners once again at Ragley Hall in 2017 so this team is definitely proving itself to be the one to beat as they are already known for their precision and colour. This is only the beginning of their competition season as they have already been invited to both the British Firework Championships in Plymouth and the British Musical Firework Champion in Southport for 2018.

FIRE MONKEY PYRO – WOLVERHAMPTON, WEST MIDLANDS

The Fire Monkey Pyro team also brought their best when invited to their first ever Firework Champions competition at Eastnor Castle in 2017 as a last-minute replacement and walked away winners with an outstanding display, timed to absolute perfection – future pyro gods perhaps!

This professional team keeps busy all year around with weddings and local events including a ‘Baby Ballroom Christmas Special’ with guest judges, Strictly Dancing’s own Ola and James Jordan along with the usual smattering of local government events.

PHENOMENAL FIREWORKS LTD, STANDISH, WIGAN

The Phenomenal Fireworks team have been in the business for over 10 years and are a very busy team, kept working throughout the year with a huge number of weddings alongside their local government work with the local education authority.

This year, the team has also received the invite to compete in the British Musical Firework Championships in Southport so they at least get to take on some of the competition in a pre-practice!

The teams are all tasked with creating a 10-minute display choreographed to music and once all the teams have shown their wares, the public gets the chance to vote for their favourites whilst watching organisers MLE Pyrotechnics take to the stage with a finale firework display.

There is entertainment for all the family including chats with the organisers, demonstrations of the firing systems etc and of course, food and drink concessions. You can, of course, bring your own food and drink and a blanket and you are set up for a lovely day.

If you have any questions about the event, tickets, gazebo hire etc, please go to the firework champions website and the team from MLE will offer you every assistance.

Enjoy!

Brad Dezotell PROFESSIONAL FIRER

Fireworks spectaculars, Canada’s busiest fireworks display team.

In 2001 a young pyrotechnic enthusiast named Brad Dezotell based in Calgary, Canada decided to follow his dream and started up his own fireworks company. Little did he know at the time just how successful he, and his 25 strong team of experts were to become.

From a very early age Brad had always been fascinated by the wonderful booms, bangs and crackles that he had seen around the country and on TV. From displays for the Canada day celebrations on 1st of July annually, to the local Calgary Stampede Rodeo show (well-known for its spectacular fireworks finale) – Brad was hooked and wanted to learn everything he could about the hobby that would one day take over his life.

His vision was to bring fireworks to the masses and take them to a whole new level. Brad’s enthusiasm and determination brought to him like-minded people from the industry; from apprentices wanting to learn the trade and specialists in close proximity pyrotechnic effects, they all wanted to get in on the action. Today, the team fires more than 160 shows a year this is one of Canada’s busiest firework display companies, with a pretty impressive list of clients who come back year after year for more.

Brad’s biggest challenge is keeping up with the ever-changing world of fireworks as new effects, colours and new techniques are being developed daily. Fireworks Spectaculars are one of the few display companies who will set up not just one show, but two. It’s a great way to ensure that if the weather decides not to ‘play ball’, Brad and his team have a “plan B” is already in place to offer ultimate safety to the watching crowds.

Using state of the art computer controlled firing systems such as ‘FireOne’ and ‘Pyrodigital’ alongside ‘Visual Show Director’ and Showsim3d (virtual firework show software) allows the team to achieve split second choreography of the shows. This software also gives the client the opportunity to see the full display in 4k resolution and enables them to tweak things in real-time before a single firework has been taken out of storage. Today’s computer systems are so accurate that the team can burst a shell accurate to a 13th of a second allowing for some complex and breath-taking symmetry in the massive displays.

Since 2005, Fireworks Spectaculars have been invited back to wow the crowds at one of the world’s biggest rodeo’s; The Calgary Stampede. Back in 2012, it was Canada’s centenary year so the team were tasked with creating a further 24 shows to fill the skies over Calgary in celebration of 100 years of independence.

The list of awards, accolades and competitions they have won is long and varied making them one of the most respected pyrotechnic companies in the world. The crowning glory must be when they won the gold Jupiter award at the L’International des Feux Loto-Québec (Montreal International Fireworks Competition) in 2010.

The team have a host of other silverware including winning various international events almost annually between 2001 – 2014.

It is easy to why they are such a force to be reckoned with when you see the team and Brad’s vision in action:

Pyronale Firework Championships

WHAT: PYRONALE FIREWORK CHAMPIONSHIPS
WHY: WORLD FIREWORK CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
WHEN: FRIDAY 4th and SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 2015
WHERE: OLYMPIC STADIUM – BERLIN – GERMANY
COST: DETAILS AVAILABLE VIA THE EVENT WEBSITE

Pyronale began in 2006 and continues to pit the best of the best from around the World against one another to have the opportunity to be crowned 2015 winner of the title of World champion.

Last year’s winners were the team from Pyroemotions who lifted the Golden Pyronale cup for their efforts which were absolutely outstanding. I caught one of their previous shows but this team are so ‘on it’ it is frightening. Split second timing, exceptional pyro all came together to create a quality display and I didn’t spot a single misfire and the effects were consistently good so it is down to this year’s teams to try to take it up another notch.

There will be two days of competition which will see six of the best teams invited to compete in this pyro spectacle.

The competitors are as follows:

Friday 4th September 2015
PIROTECNIA CABALLER SA – SPAIN
PYROTEX FIREWORX – ENGLAND
POTSDAMER FIREWORKS – GERMANY

Saturday 5th September 2015
PRIVATEX PYRO – SLOVAKIA
PYROSTAR – FINLAND
FIREWORK MARTARELLO-RAMOS – MEXICO

Of course, each one of the contenders has the ability to ‘bring it’ but we will have to wait and see. On paper, the competition is really between Pyrotex Fireworx from the UK and Pirotecnia Caballer Ricassa SA from Spain.

The team from Pyrotex, who’s pedigree on the international competition stage cannot be questioned following on from their win in Malta in 2014, will bring some innovative shapes and effects to the table. If you have not had the chance to catch their winning display, check it out on YouTube – one word AWESOME. The display was dramatic, beautiful and with split second timing it all came together to enable them to lift the silverware.

Pirotecnia Caballer Ricassa brings real depth of colour to their displays and each section has the feeling of being a little finale before the end comes. If they use their blend of pop and traditional music together, you will see something truly special.

We will, as usual, bring you the results and any video footage or pictures as soon as they are available.
