Tag Archives: New Years Eve

No matter where you go in Prague New Year’s Eve there will be drinks flowing, parties been held and of course our favourite fireworks!!

The river cruises, restaurants, clubs and bars are filled to the brim and the atmosphere gently builds as the clock approaches midnight. This is when the revellers gather around the city to watch the magnificent firework display.

There is something for everyone and the festivities are enjoyed by one and all young and old, wild and the carefree. Also, there is an abundance of entertainment options available where this be dinner, dancing, pub crawl or one of the popular river cruises available giving a different view to the city.

Whatever you choose to do in the run-up to the new year is fine with us but on a recommendation from ourselves, we say that make sure that 100% you do not miss out on the fireworks display to ring in the new year.

There are a few options to choose from when it comes to viewing points for the fireworks to make sure that your new year begins with a bang.

Prague New Year

The Charles Bridge is at the centre of the action and has stunning views of the fireworks from on the water. Get a postcard-perfect picture as the on one side there is the backdrop of the old town and on the other is the stunning Prague Castle. Join one of the many cruises that are available with food and drinks packages available.

With many riverside restaurants to choose from all of them having terraces, this is another place to view the fireworks. The higher side of the two is on the lesser town side but if you can’t get into any of the restaurants then you can make your way over to Petrin Hill near Prague Castle where you will still be able to catch a glimpse.

There are two squares to choose from Old Town and St Wenceslas: please note that this is classed as somewhere only for the more adventurous. The atmosphere starts off very sedate and slowly builds throughout the evening. As the clock strikes 12 this is when the action begins, and it can become pretty hair-raising. As the fireworks begin to let in the new year you will also see some of the locals setting off handheld fireworks so may sure that you keep an eye on these.

Wherever you decide to view the fireworks from just remember to arrive as early as possible and make sure that you stick to your place as it can become crowded very quickly.

Whatever you decide to do, just make sure that you stop and look skyward on the stroke of 12, so not to miss out on the fantastic firework display and fireworks to enter 2019 with a bang.

If you not one of the lucky ones to be able to witness the Disney magic in the flesh this New Year’s Eve, then worry no more this is the next best thing.

Walt Disney world will be putting a live stream of the grand New Year’s Eve performance “fantasy in the sky” firework display along with the musical accompaniment from classic Disney films such as Peter Pan, Aladdin, Pinocchio and many more. The Park goes all out for the fireworks at any time but on New years eve they make it event more special with a spectacular finale.

You can catch the live stream on the Disney Parks Blog or the Disney Parks YouTube Channel. Beginning roughly at 11:45pm EST, and beforehand there will be a special countdown on the programme at 11:59pm to make sure you don’t miss out on this explosive start to 2019.

If you have been lucky enough to Visit any of the Parks, then they are asking for you to contribute and possibly be part of the broadcast by posting photos on Twitter using the hashtag #DisneyParksLIVE.

If you are one of the lucky ones then there is plenty to see and do along with extra time to play as Magic Kingdom and Epcot will stay open until 1am, Hollywood Studios open until 12am.

If you are on the west coast, then Disneyland stays open until 2am and California adventure open until 1am.

Personally, as I have been to Disney World during this time and trust me it will be magical as well as entertaining. But by offering the live stream this gives you the chance to celebrate the new year with Mickey and friends from the comfort of your own home.

Fireworks have become commonplace to ring in the New Year in the city, and same goes for this year, but with a slight difference; Abu Dhabi will not only wow the crowds with a spectacular firework display,  but also they will be ringing in the New Year by attempting to break yet another Guinness World Record and add this to their long list of achievements. The record-breaking attempt this time, will be for the largest sentence created with fireworks.

The display will take place on Abu Dhabi’s incredible Corniche (the main road along the esplanade) and will last for around 10 minutes, with the finale consisting of tech called iron sky towers which is 40 metres high with letters spelling out “Happy New Year 2019” in a rainbow of colours and different designs.

Alongside this, there will also be a smaller scale firework display held over the City in Emirates Palace, Yas Marina, and Al-Maryah Island where they will be holding a concert including some popstars and famous singers for the visitors and locals to enjoy before the New Year get underway in earnest.

Entry to the concert is free however a limited number will be able to get in to the event and this will be on a first come first serve basis. If you’re not one of the lucky ones to get in there will also be large screens set up on the promenade, so you won’t miss out on any of the entertainment. Playing into the wee small hours will be Drum and Bass specialists Rudimental and Sigala, Fat Man Scoop and some of the biggest DJ’s from around the World

Fireworks will also be held for people outside the city in The Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and the Al Dhafra festival in Madinat Zayed.

All the restaurants, hotels and venues all over the Capital will be offering lavish culinary experiences, along with special offers and entertainment to make sure that everyone will have an unforgettable experience to mark the start of a happy and prosperous 2019.

Here are some of the record-breaking achievements over the years that the United Arab Emirates have attained in the past (some of which have since been beaten) – let’s hope they smash it again:

2013 – Most firework shells launched per minute

2014 – Largest firework Display

2015 – Highest fireworks on a building

2018 – Largest aerial shell

We wish them all the best in entering yet another attempt in the record books and cannot wait to see what they conjure up in 2019.
