The theme this year is ‘The Legend of Bridges’ in a nod to the connections created, the socioeconomic and tourism increases and the joining together of once remote towns and districts.

The teams competing this year are as follows:

POLAND SUREX FIRMA RODZINNA

SWEDEN GOTEBORGS FYRVERKERIFABRIK

PORTUGAL LUSO PIROTECNIA

HONG KONG VULCAN FIREWORKS

VIETNAM TEAM DA NANG

USA ATLAS PYROVISION

ITALY MARTELLO SRL

FRANCE TAMAYA KITAHARA

The schedule for the events is as follows:

29th April 2018 VIETNAM AND PORTUGAL

26th May 2018 FRANCE AND USA

2nd June 2018 ITALY AND HONG KONG

9th June 2018 SWEDEN AND PORTUGAL

30th June 2018 CLOSING DISPLAY AND FINALE ROUND

Last year the winner of the event was Italy but having watched all the displays on offer, in my opinion, Pyrotex should have lifted the trophy but hey ho … maybe next time.

I am sure it is going to be an amazing schedule of pyrotechnics for all the family to enjoy.

RESULTS: Herrenhausen Fireworks 2015

Back in May, we brought you news of the annual Herrenhausen International Fireworks competition, held annually on 5 Saturdays between May and September and it brings together top teams from Italy, Spain, Finland, Sweden and the Philippines to fight it out for this International title.

The competition is judged by a jury of 10 independent pyro experts. The displays lasted approximately 25 minutes and included a 4 minute compulsory section which all the teams had to include and the remaining choreographed display can be to any selection of music. They also have to use a minimum of ground elements but apart from that, the skies the limit! (no pun intended … honest!)

The final results were:

1st Goteborgs Fyrverkeri Fabrik – Sweden
2nd Dragon Fireworks – Philippines
3rd Ricardo Cabballer Ricassa

Being straight, I still had Pyroemotions from Italy as the front-runner as their display really was (imho) a truly beautiful show, but, each to their own and warmest congratulations to all the competitors who took part.

Pattaya International Firework Festival 2014

The Pattaya International Firework Festival started in 2007 and continues to runs from strength to strength bringing a much-needed boost to the local economy. This is the 8th annual event which brings together the best of the best from around the world to entertain and delight the gathered thousands.

The competition takes part in two sections and the first on the Friday gives the display specialists a 10 minute window in which to wow the crowds which they do on an individual basis before the event on Saturday where the teams will all pull together to put on a 45 minute spectacular.

As one of the biggest events in Pattaya, there is plenty to do with parades, live music, concerts and traditional and contemporary dance with lots of stalls around selling locally made handicrafts and the shops will stay open until late evening.

The reason for the event is to celebrate the anniversary and birthday of the King of Thailand, Bhumibil Adulyadej who has been on the throne for an impressive 64 years. His continued poor health is of course cause for concern amongst his very loyal subjects but at 86 years of age, it is not unsurprising.

Representing the UK is the team from Pyro 2000, the display specialists from Standard Black Cat of Huddersfield who have shown their prowess in this field and continue to go from strength to strength. They have an impressive client list and very recently were lucky to be awarded runners-up in the Seoul International Fireworks Festival.

Of course, along with the rest of the UK, we will be rooting for Pyro 2000 but they are up against some tough competition from Spain Italy and Germany.

We will update you as soon as further information becomes available.
