Pattaya International Firework Festival 2015

WHAT: PATTAYA INTERNATIONAL FIREWORK FESTIVAL 2015
WHERE: PATTAYA BEACH FRONT ROAD
WHEN: FRIDAY 27th & SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBER 2015
WHY: INTERNATIONAL FIREWORK COMPETITION

The Pattaya International Firework Festival began in 2007 to both celebrate the birthday of their beloved leader and offer a much-needed boost to the local economy. This is the 9th annual event which brings together the best of the best from around the world to entertain and delight the gathered spectators, often numbering into their tens of thousands.

The firework competition takes part in two sections. The first on the Friday, gives the display specialists a 10 minute window during which to wow the crowds on an individual basis before the event on Saturday where the teams will all pull together to put on a 45 minute spectacular. The Countries taking part are from:

· China
· Philippines
· Korea
· Japan

As this is one of the biggest events in Pattaya there is plenty to do. There is entertainment with parades, live music, concerts and traditional and contemporary dance. And of course, there are lots of stalls around selling locally made handicrafts and the shops will stay open until late evening.

The reason for the event is to celebrate the anniversary and birthday of the King of Thailand, Bhumibil Adulyadej who has been on the throne for an impressive 65 years. His continued poor health is of course cause for concern among his very loyal subjects, but at 87, it is not unsurprising that he should be feeling his age.

They also include a flash mob which should be entertaining too but we will bring you the videos of the event as soon as they are available.

GLOBALFEST FIREWORKS FESTIVAL 2015

WHAT: GLOBALFEST INTERNATIONAL FIREWORKS FESTIVAL 2015
WHY: FIREWORKS FESTIVAL / COMPETITION
WHERE: ELLISTON PARK, CALGARY, CANADA
WHEN: 20th TO 29th AUGUST 2015

This annual event began in 1993 following the formation of The Calgary Fireworks Festival Society but the search for a suitable venue which could have the fireworks and still host the numbers of visitors anticipated.

The quest continued for 10 years and in 2003, the inaugural Globalfest International Fireworks Festival got underway much to the delight of the tens of thousands of spectators.

Today, the event is co-sponsored by Trico Homes and has continued to grow into one of the biggest events in the Calgary calendar.

The fireworks are set over the Lake at Elliston Park for the 2015 Champion of Champions event where world-class teams from around the World all compete to lift the trophy as they have all won here at least once.

The competitors are as follows:

CHINA – THURSDAY 20Tth AUGUST
PHILIPPINES – SATURDAY 22nd AUGUST
SPAIN – TUESDAY 25th AUGUST
USA – THURSDAY 27th AUGUST
CANADA ***FINALE*** SATURDAY 29th AUGUST

Adjudicators will be keeping their eyes peeled as each contestant wows the crowd with their own interpretation of what they feel is the best display. Judges will take into consideration when marking:

The quality of the display.
The scope of the work undertaken.
The richness and brightness and use of the colours.
Synchronisation of the music and fireworks.
Originality, choice of music & staging of the display.
25% of the music featured MUST originate from the firers own country.
Use of the compulsory piece (to be announced) all competitors will have to feature in the demonstration.

The strict guidelines the teams have to adhere to, makes this a unique event not seen anywhere else in the world. An added bonus at this event is the firing position which looks to mirror the display on to the lake below, doubling the beautiful scenes for the expectant spectators.

Along with the usual concessions, there are a number of things for the children to do including bouncy castle, trampolines, face painting and arts and crafts.

Tickets for the event start at $20 (Canadian) for one day’s access to the park, with tickets still available from $75 for admission to all the teams.

As yet the officials have not told us of which teams from the competing countries will take up the banner for their national pride, but we will let you know as soon as we do.

Not able to attend? Enjoy the finale from last year’s event at Globalfest 2014.

Pyronale Firework Championships

WHAT: PYRONALE FIREWORK CHAMPIONSHIPS
WHY: WORLD FIREWORK CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
WHEN: FRIDAY 4th and SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 2015
WHERE: OLYMPIC STADIUM – BERLIN – GERMANY
COST: DETAILS AVAILABLE VIA THE EVENT WEBSITE

Pyronale began in 2006 and continues to pit the best of the best from around the World against one another to have the opportunity to be crowned 2015 winner of the title of World champion.

Last year’s winners were the team from Pyroemotions who lifted the Golden Pyronale cup for their efforts which were absolutely outstanding. I caught one of their previous shows but this team are so ‘on it’ it is frightening. Split second timing, exceptional pyro all came together to create a quality display and I didn’t spot a single misfire and the effects were consistently good so it is down to this year’s teams to try to take it up another notch.

There will be two days of competition which will see six of the best teams invited to compete in this pyro spectacle.

The competitors are as follows:

Friday 4th September 2015
PIROTECNIA CABALLER SA – SPAIN
PYROTEX FIREWORX – ENGLAND
POTSDAMER FIREWORKS – GERMANY

Saturday 5th September 2015
PRIVATEX PYRO – SLOVAKIA
PYROSTAR – FINLAND
FIREWORK MARTARELLO-RAMOS – MEXICO

Of course, each one of the contenders has the ability to ‘bring it’ but we will have to wait and see. On paper, the competition is really between Pyrotex Fireworx from the UK and Pirotecnia Caballer Ricassa SA from Spain.

The team from Pyrotex, who’s pedigree on the international competition stage cannot be questioned following on from their win in Malta in 2014, will bring some innovative shapes and effects to the table. If you have not had the chance to catch their winning display, check it out on YouTube – one word AWESOME. The display was dramatic, beautiful and with split second timing it all came together to enable them to lift the silverware.

Pirotecnia Caballer Ricassa brings real depth of colour to their displays and each section has the feeling of being a little finale before the end comes. If they use their blend of pop and traditional music together, you will see something truly special.

We will, as usual, bring you the results and any video footage or pictures as soon as they are available.
