The Simpsons. Series 7. Episode 25. Illegal Fireworks.
Here, Homer goes into a small convenience store with the intention of buying some illegal fireworks.
This amusing look at the sale of illegal firework and although we appreciate the tongue in cheek comedy value of The Simpsons, particularly with its non PC approach to the majority of subjects, it is an issue which we are very conscious of.
Over 40% of all accidents concerning fireworks are from illegal ones. Now we know that most people today think that the Health and Safety Executive are just killjoys, the reality is that they prevent tens of thousands of potentially horrific accidents annually by investigating this issue in detail.
The advice is clear: buy from a reputable dealer, preferably one who sells them all year round and are clearly either BS7114 standard or CE marked to be sure of the safety of the product. Make sure you adhere to the safety instructions, particularly to the safety distances and if you have any questions, make sure you contact the supplier who should be able to answer any questions.

This is a video of the 300,000 rockets fired at the Mikuni Fireworks Festival, held at WadaBeach, Fukui, Japan in 2004.
Each year, they try to add a few more to the mix as back in 2003, they fired 200,000 rockets and then in 2004, 300,000 rockets and the festival continues annually much to the delight of the thousands of firework fans who make their way along every year. The fireworks are second to none, all huge and filling the sky with bright colours and loud noises and with effects from HUGE shell bursts which hang in the air for an age to smiley faces and love hearts.
