The little town of Turriff, Aberdeenshire, will once again be holding their annual firework charity event in aid of UCAN. This is a charitable organisation which offers support to both those suffering from Urological cancers and their families who are on what can only be described as a life-changing journey of treatment and aftercare. Unfortunately, the overstretched NHS is limited to what help they can offer outside of the treatment regime, but this organisation aims to address the missing link between the two.

The firework event is a huge concern and last year, it raised almost £10,000 for UCAN. On the night there will be:

  • SON ET LUMIERE FIREWORKS (REACTION FIREWORKS)
  • MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
  • ABERDEEN FIRE SPINNERS (FIRE POI) – immensely talented group who twirls fire around their bodies to create intricate patterns with small fire poi (a pair of arm length
  • BUCHAN COMMUNITY RADIO
  • JUGGLERS
  • SEASONAL TOY STALLS
  • FOOD AND DRINK CONCESSIONS
  • RAFFLE

Eating out in the area is straight forward enough with some great little restaurants and café’s dotted about the area

FIFE ARMS HOTEL – THE SQUARE, TURRIFF

Great food, great service and they serve everything from cream teas to delicious langoustine, creamy mussels to bangers and mash.

LAIRD’S KITCHEN – DELGATIE CASTLE, TURRIFF

Homemade delights are in abundance at this twee little café. The Cullen skink (a bowl of traditional soup with cooked potatoes, onions and smoked haddock in a creamy soup) is said to be one of the best in the area and people have been known to travel miles just for a bowl of this delicious loveliness.

If you are not able to travel far, have you considered holding your own display? Check out some of our DIY packs or perhaps you would prefer some quieter garden fireworks.
