BROADSTAIRS WATER GALA

WHAT: BROADSTAIRS WATER GALA
WHERE: VIKING BAY, VICTORIA GARDENS, AND PROMENADE
WHEN: WEDNESDAY 31ST JULY 2019
COST: FREE TO ATTEND

The town of Broadstairs with its beautiful sandy beaches, seafront cafes and quality local restaurants is the ideal place to get away this summer. Known as the jewel in Thanet’s crown, this resort holds several events which feature fireworks every year.

The town is known for being the holiday destination of Author Charles Dickens, who visited from 1837 to 1859 and described the town an “English watering place”. He also wrote his most famous work, David Copperfield, whilst staying at Fort House which eventually was renamed Bleak House in later years. He referred to the house as his ‘airy nest’ positioned on the cliffs over the North Foreland and Viking Bay in Broadstairs. The Grade II listed building has been on the market for two years and has recently been lowered to half the original price – not too bad considering it includes ALL fixtures and fittings, etc as well.

The fabulous Broadstairs Water Gala is a jam-packed day for all the family and there is plenty to do and see. Head down to the beach and you can find games, water activities, search for sea life in the rock pools or try your hand at crabbing or simply sit back on the beach and watch the famous Punch and Judy show.

If the beach is not for you to take a walk up to the beautiful Victoria Gardens and the promenade that sits at the top of the cliffs over-looking the horseshoe shaped bay and take in the views. Enjoy a delicious ice-cream, wander around the many craft and trade stalls or take a ride on the family funfair.

The most anticipated show and of course our favourite is the fireworks; It is advised to get there early but there are no shortage of places to sit and see the display with the promenade, seafront, jetty, bandstand and Victoria gardens all offering excellent viewing of the show as the skies above the bay are lit up in colour and effects. The fireworks will be set off at 9:45pm and will certainly end the evening with a bang.

Get the whole family together and have fun beside the seaside this summer.
