Firework Champions Belvoir Castle 2014

WHAT: Firework Champions Belvoir Castle 2014 Competition
WHEN: Saturday 9th August 2014
WHERE: BELVOIR CASTLE: GRANTHAM, LEICESTERSHIRE
COST: £18.00 FOR ADULTS £8.00 CHILDREN

Belvoir Castle (pronounced beaver) is home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland for a thousand years and it is currently home to the 11th Duke and Duchess and their family.

In its 6th year this marvellous spectacle is run by MLE pyrotechnics who have the honour of closing proceedings with a special display whilst the votes are being cast and counted.

There are 3 teams competing who will each produce a magnificent firework display choreographed to music. The teams only use CAT 4 fireworks which are NOT available to the general public and are the loudest, biggest and brightest that the UK has to offer. The pyro comes from all around the World from China, Spain, Germany and Italy and will include all manner of different effects.

Before the fireworks get underway, apart from the stunning castle and the gardens there will be usual rides and attractions alongside food and beverage concessions but it’s a great afternoon and late evening for all the family to get together and enjoy one another’s company and of course the fantastic firework shows on offer.

Voting for the winner is carried out by text message and the audience choose their favourites and whilst the calculating takes place, the organisers and professional display team from MLE Pyrotechnics will keep the visitors entertained with a finale show which is sure to take everyone’s breath away.

The firing order is as follows:

• 9:30 – Phoenix Fireworks – Kent

The team from Phoenix have a great track record for excellence and they won Plymouth’s British Fireworks Championships in 2009 and the British Musical Firework Championships in 2007. They are only one of three teams to have ever managed to win both of these coveted titles. They have been in business for more than 40 years but with the last 9 years under new ownership the company has weathered many changes and have received massive investment and have subsequently gone from strength to strength.

Sadly, the teams display designer passed away on 1st December 2013 but his legacy lives on as the display was one of his designs. A fitting tribute to the man who loved fireworks - Good luck Phoenix.

The display designer is the late Alex Selby and the firing system is Fireone.

• 9:45 – Komodo Fireworks – Market Harborough

The company was established in 2004 by a husband and wife team Rob and Lexy Sosbe. They worked tirelessly to establish their position within the pro fireworks world attracting clients such as X-Factor, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and were worthy winners of the title of winner of the British Musical Fireworks Championships in Southport in 2012.

The display designer is Rob Sosbe and the firing system being used is FireByWire.

• 10:00 – Blitz Fireworks - Crewe

With 15 years of experience this company came about as a result of two pyro lovers getting together and developing their display business into a full-time occupation.

Today, them display team are held in high regard and their display promises to leave the viewing public open-mouthed at the size, power and beauty of the pyro.

The display designer is Phil Jones and the firing system is FireByWire.

The closing display will be nothing short of spectacular as the ultimate experts in their field and organisers of this wonderful event, MLE Pyrotechnics of Daventry, were worthy winners of the 2011 British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth and have worked on huge advertising campaigns like Sainsbury’s perfect Christmas campaign where they supplied and fired the display used for the advert. The show has been designed by Mat Lawrence and is to be fired using FireByWire.

This unique event is the only one of its kind in the UK where the viewing public sends in SMS to vote for their chosen champions.

Of course, the Castle and Grounds will be open for a leisurely walk around and there are picnic areas set up. There will of course be the usual drink and food concessions and children’s attractions on site for your entertainment.

If you have never been before to this sort of event you can of course check it out via the website or indeed position any questions directly to the organisers MLE.
