Epic Paper Fireworks With A Twist

The art of Japanese paper-folding is a modern art which started there in the 1600’s. Although this art has been fully embraced by the Japanese, there is a great deal of evidence to support the idea that this was also popular in China and across Germany, Italy and Spain.

Regretfully, as the medium is paper, despite the art of using folded paper items being popular for Chinese funerals in the 9th to 12th centuries there are no longer any examples to draw conclusions from.

The basic art form includes very few folds but it is how they are combined which adds to the number of designs which can be made. The majority of designs available start with a square piece of paper.
