A Dogs Life
Here at Epic, those of you who have had the chance to visit us either here at our new showrooms in Barnsley or indeed visited us over the years in Batley, you will have met the most valued member of the team, Bruce the dog.
Bruce is now 10 and is getting a few aches and pains in his joints but still goes to work every day. It is a popular myth that dog years equate to 7 of ours but this has been proven to be false by veterinarians who advise that a 10 year old dog is equal to around 56 human years. The issue really being that although 56 he is still a male and therefore, like his human counterparts, is still a 10 year old boy at heart.
The expression ‘it’s a dogs life’ was used in literature by George Bernard Shaw in Pygmalion is intended to imply that life is hard and unpleasant if you are a dog. But, this is clearly not the case in this instance. If you have ever visited us at lunchtime, you would know better.!! All the team here at Epic know that his favourites are cheese sandwiches and ham but he has only been known to turn up his snout at his own food of late. He can now hear the sandwich boxes being opened from the yard and he has his favourites to beg from.
He is a very loud boy but he is prepared to have anything done to him if accompanied by food. He was recently shedding his hair all over and his human mum gave him a once over with the hoover. The only way she could achieve this is by bribing him with a cheese slice. Not the usual tool of corruption but hey ho, if it works don’t change it.
Come along to see him, he is here most days and don’t forget the treats (very fond of smackos).
Epic Fireworks – Credit Control
Some of our customers may remember as I do of stifling a chuckle or two when noticing the ‘polite’ notice advising “please do not ask for credit as a smack in the mouth often offends”. Here at Epic, we are a little less subtle as we just bring out the Brucie dog!!
Bruce is a beautiful 11 year old German Shepherd who has been going to ‘work’ every day since puppyhood and continues to enjoy his daily journey over to South Yorkshire.
Whilst as many of you will testify to he has a really sweet tooth and will beg for sweeties from anyone (fortunately he is also keen on his dental chews too) and is really loud and giddy if anyone comes in but he is an absolute darling and we all love him dearly.
We have never had reason to use his ‘negotiation calming skills’ thus far but ….. never say never!!
Live Footage – Red Back Anaconda Vs German Shepherd
Set in the peaceful environment of the Epic Fireworks car park, this stunning exhibition of nature was caught on film.
A 25metre (82 feet) Red Back Anaconda fought for over 2 mins with a courageous German Shepherd.
Bruce, the German shepherd, will receive his bravery award at this years Crufts. Bruce was bitten several times during the attack, but has now made a full recovery.
