The beautiful County of Kent is known as the garden of England due to the abundance of fruit, hop and hazelnut farmers in the area. Historically, the area of Broadstairs was home to the artist J M W Turner, one of England’s greatest romantic landscape painter’s and was a summer retreat for Charles Dickens who wrote his most recognised work, David Copperfield whilst staying at Fort House which was later renamed Bleak House. The house is still used today as luxury accommodation and a delightful tea room serving cream teas and light lunches.

The town of Broadstairs has a beautiful blue flag sandy beach, seafront café’s and excellent quality local restaurants offering the best local delicacies the region has to offer as well as music and arts festivals and a cinema and community theatre to name but a few.

The Broadstairs firework events take place on July 29th, August 19th and August 26th this year and the event on the 19th takes place after the water gala. The water gala is an all day fun packed event from the teddy bears picnic first thing in the morning all the way through to the evening for the fabulous fireworks offered up by the extremely talented Phoenix Fireworks. They have won every accolade within the industry and were part of the team firing for the New Years Eve displays in London in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

All of the Summer events are free and other than the Water gala, they start at 6.00pm and the fireworks are generally going to be fired at around 10.00pm (weather permitting). Although fully funded by the local authorities with the support of businesses in the region, attendees are encouraged to donate generously towards future funding to keep the summer fireworks for years to come.

If you are visiting the region or happen to live locally, get along there to see the fireworks bursting over the beautiful bay.
