Rocket Struck by Lightning

A NASA rocket on the launch pad waiting for blast off gets a nasty surprise from Mother Nature.

A huge lighting bolt that completely fills the sky strikes at the base of the rocket which I am sure would have given the astronauts inside something to worry about.

This is not exactly a picture of fireworks, but I am sure you can stretch your imagination to see how this is slightyl connected to fireworks for 2 very good reasons.

1. Mother Natures fireworks: Lighting, created by nature is like natural fireworks that bang loudly, illuminate the sky and frighten the old and the young but mesmerises man with its awesome power and terrifying lack of control – this is similar to fireworks which do pretty much the same but with perhaps a slightly greater level of control.

2. Its a rocket: yes a tenuous connection if ever there was one but a rocket it is none the less. Certainly slightly larger than the ones we are used to blasting into the night sky but a rocket none-the-less.

Fireworks are designed to do at least one of 2 things. Bang loudly or make a great deal of noise. OR. Make a beautiful if brief picture in the sky that we can gaze at with wonder in our eyes before it dwindles and fades, never to be seen again. This photgraph shows how lighting can definately do at least one of those (and his friend thunder is pretty good at the other one).
